LIGHTER CAPSIZES IN SYDNEY HARBOUR Rec. 11 p.m. SYDNEY, Oct. 31. Strong rain squalls were experienced in Sydney to-day This morning a lighter carrying 2000 cases of T.N.T. capsized in Double Bay when struck by the squalk Hurried calls for assistance were sent out to recapture the floating cases which might have proved a menace to shipping in the harbour. A warning was issued to shipping, as it was feared that a blow from a ship's bow might have been sufficient to detonate the T.N.T. This afternoon 80 people were left struggling in the water when a 54mile an hour squall struck sailing craft on the harbour. Many of them were in the water the best part of an hour before being picked up. A man on the Manly ferry steamer was blown from the rails and drowned as the vessel was crossing the Heads
