BODY NEAR RAILWAY

NOTED BARRISTER FOUND DEAD Rec. 8 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 29. The death is announced of Dr W. T. S. Stallybrass, principal of Brasenose College and former vice-chancellor of Oxford University. He was found dead beside a railway line near Iver. in Buckinghamshire. It is believed that he was a passenger on the Lon-don-Birkenhead train late yesterday A member of the Lord Chancellor’s Law Revision Committee, and an honorary master of the Bench of the Inner Temple, Dr Stallybrass was the author of a number of works on law A Press Association message from Wellington states: The death of Dr Stallybrass was a grievous loss to Brasenose College, to Oxford and to the cause of learning, said the Bishop of Wellington, the Right Rev. R. H Owen. Bishop Owen, who was a Fellow and tutor of Brasenose College from 1934 to 1937 when he was appointed to the Wellington Diocese, said Dr Stallybrass had been attending a meeting of the University Grants Committee. A few years ago, Dr Stallybrass lost the sight of one eye and disliked travelling by himself, but he never allowed this infirmity to interfere with the duties of his office.
