GOLF CLUBS FINED

ILLEGAL SALE OF LIQUOR P.A. AUCKLAND, Oct. 29. “ I could say that any law requiring trickery by tne police to obtain convictions is a bad law, but I am here to enforce, good or bad laws, and I shall have to convict,” Mr W. Carrol Harley, S.M., told counsel for the three golf clubs charged in the Police Court to-day with illegally selling liquor. The clubs were the Auckland, the North Shore and Grange. “ Each club will be fined £lO on the first charge and convicted and discharged on the others,” the magistrate said. “I will make an order that the liquor seized be destroyed.”
