DAMAGES CLAIMED

NEGLIGENCE IN MOTOR ACCIDENT ALLEGED Claiming £622 special damages and £3OO general damages, William How Waddell, of Clyde, proceeded against the South Otago Transport Company, Ltd., in the Supreme Court at Dunedin before Mr Justice Kennedy and a jury of 12 yesterday. .The plaintiff is being represented by Mr F. W. Guest, and Mr A. N. Haggitt is appearing for the defendant. The'special damages claimed represent the loss of value on a motor car. amounting to £560, and loss of earnings and medical attention needed as the result of an accident with a truck driven by an employee of the defendant company on the RoxburghMilton highway on January 24 last. The plaintiff alleged that the accident was caused by negligent driving on the part of the truck driver. The defendant denied negligence, and alleged that the plaintiff was negligent in allowing a taxi-cab to be driven by a person unlicensed to do so. Before the case was adjourned until this morning Mr Guest had called Dr W. Brown, Reina Wilson, a passenger in the motor Car; George Henry Vercoe, of Clyde, the driver; Leonard Augustine Keogh, motor mechanic; Harold William Wharton, bodybuilder; William John Annan, garage proprietor, Alexandra; Henry Gathorne Walls, garage proprietor, Alexandra; and the plaintiff.
