Deletion of “ British” Would Draw Protests

N.Z.P.A.—Copyright MELBOURNE, Oct. 28. The Acting Premier, Mr J. G. B. McDonald, said that the Victorian Government would protest against the deletion of the word British from the title British Commonwealth. He added that every loyal subject should protest, as the word meant much to all with any pride of Empire. The deletion would be the thin edge of the wedge to the forcing of other concessions and the throwing' overboard of traditions that had made the Empire great. The British nation stood for all that was good in the world. There had been far too many attempts to appease countries that were jealous of the leadership shown by Britain in wori,d affairs for many centuries.
