MANUAL BOARDS
Telephone Exchange
Although the present equipment in the automatic telephone exchange is fully taxed it is hoped in a few months’ time, by the installation of two manual switchboards, to give most of the waiting subscribers a telephone service. A combination of automatic telephone and manual service is already in operation in some exchanges in New Zealand. Automatic equipment is still unobtainable and therefore the prospects of enlarging the automatic switching gear are at present remote.
