BROWN, EWING’S YEAR
After providing for depreciation and taxation, Brown, Ewing and Co., Ltd., show a net profit of £9510, against £11,526 the previous year. With £7947 brought l in, there is £17,457 available Dividends of 5 per cent, on preference shares and 15 per cent, on ordinary shares, all free of social and national security taxes, take £SOOO, the same amount as last year, when the ordinary dividend was 10 per cent., with a bonus of 5 per cent. It is proposed to add £ISOO (£2500 last year) to the staff welfare fund. Carry forward is £10,957, against £7947 brought in. In 1947, £2500 was added to the dividend equalisation account.
