WRIST-BAND CAMERA
NEW ERA IN PHOTOGRAPHY FOUR HUNDRED PICTURES PER FILM ROLL N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 18. A wrist-band camera that will take 400 pictures on a roll of normal 35 millimetre film is stated to have been perfected by Dr Rudolf Steinbeck, a 42-year-old German scientist. A report from Munich states that Dr Steinbecit worked for two years on the model, which will go into production in November. It was the answer, he said, to his wife’s complaint that current photographic apparatus was too complicated for the layman.. Dr Steinbeck made simplicity the keynote of his invention and now believes he has marked the beginning of a new era in photography. The camera weighs 8 1-6 n, looks like a wrist watch, and is about twice as l.igh as a normjl watch. Dr Stein peck says it is foolproof, and so simple that ic will lake pictures at a “moment’s notice” without being removed from the wrist.
The film is about four millimetres in diameter at the point of exposure, and may be enlarger to slightly more than 2x3 inches. Special films can be made to provide a greater enlargement capacity. The lens is a 2.5 special lens which will shoot in focus from one metre to infinity without additional adjustment. The camera also can be used for colour photography by changing the film holder. The price for the new camera will be set after production has begun and costs are determined.
