THE TERM “DOMINION”

SUBJECT FOR COMMONWEALTH DISCUSSION Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 16. The conference of the Commonwealth’s leaders in London in October is likely to discuss the bringing up to date of the official use of such terms as “dominion,” says the political correspondent of the Daily Telegraph. “ Dominion ” is passing out of official usage in favour of “Commonwealth nation,” but still occurs in many legal, official and semi-official documents. If is also possible that the phrase, “King of the British dominions beyond the seas ” may be considered for revision. The British Government is unlikely to propose the changes, but the effect of such changes is being studied in London in case the vi.siting Commonwealth officials raise them.
