INQUEST CONCLUDED
MAN’S BODY FOUND ON BEACH
A verdict of accidental drowning was returned by Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., sitting as coroner, yesterday afternoon in the adjourned inquest into the death of Dennis William Kilgour, aged 51, a patient at the Seacliff Mental Hospital, whose body was found on August 8 last oh the beach at Aromoana, Otago Heads. Evidence was given by Dr Malcolm Brown, medical superintendent at the Mental Hospital, that the deceased had been quiet and inoffensive, and he had been allowed to attend sporting events. The deceased had been present at a football match at Carisbrook on July 31. along with a number of other patients. He did not return that night, and witness was of the opinion that he had been making his way back along the coast to Seacliff. Police evidence was given, showing that all the circumstances were consistent with the view that the deceased slipped on the rocks, was stunned, and was covered by the incoming tide. The proceedings were conducted by Sergeant J. O’Shea.
