SOUTH AFRICAN TOUR

OPPOSITION TO “ COLOUR BAR ” Members of the Otago and Southland branch of the New Zealand Workers’ Union showed some interest in the forthcoming tour of South Africa by the All Blacks at then annual meeting, when dissatisfaction with the existence of the colour bar was expressed. A motion carried without dissent stated: " That this .meeting objects to the undemocratic methods of the South African Rugby Union in asking New Zealand to exclude Maori players from the team. We regret that South Africa has decided to impose the colour bar and request the New Zealand Rugby Union to refrain from sending a team to South Africa under the circumstances."
