OTAGO ASSOCIATION
At the meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Hockey Association last night, the question of obtaining the use of an enclosed ground for hockey was discussed at some length. Speakers made a number of suggestions and a subcommittee consisting of Mr H. Sew Hoy and Mr E. J. Rennick was set up to make inquiries and submit a report to a later meeting. It was reported that 26 billets were still required for visiting players in the New Zealand secondary schools’ tournament. The teams would arrive in Dunedin next Monday. It was decided to make an appeal for the supply of the required billets, the matter being left in the hands of Mr W. M. Carr.
The junior selector, Mr A. R. Botting, was requested to select a junior representative side to meet the New Zealand secondary schools’ team, which will be chosen during the tournament. Mr E. J. Rennick was appointed manager of the Otago team to leave for Wellington on Thursday to play for the New Zealand Challenge Shield, and Mr T. H. Mulholland was appointed umpire for the game. Mr Rennick asked that the team should be assembled for a final practice at the Oval at 5 p.m. to-morrow.
