SHIELD CHALLENGERS

CANTERBURY TEAM ARRIVES Most of‘the members of the Canterbury Rugby team arrived in Dunedin yesterday by the express. L. T. Savage, A. D. McKenzie, and R. C. Stuart will arrive from Christchurch by air to-day. The manager, Mr M. T. Gundersen, said last night that the team was confident of making a good showing in the Ranfurly Shield match against Otago at Carisbrook to-morrow. None of the players selected are on the casualty list, and the team is at full strength. Also travelling with the party is Mr K. Heazelwood, one of the Canterbury selectors, who was at one time a prominent member of the Zingari-Richmond Dlub and represented Otago, Auckland, Wellington and Canterbury in interproidncial Rugby as well as playing for the North and South Islands.

The team, which will practise at Carisirook to-day, and which is not likely to se amended, is:— Full-back, D. Doake; three-quarters, IV. G. Argus, T. Richards, J. W. Kelly; iive-eighths, J. R. Roach, I. McNally; halfpack, L T. Savage; front-row, A. Couling, i. Mitchell, J. G. Bond; middle-row, D. H. Terman, N. Dalzell, B. J. Chandler, R C. Jtuart; back-row, A. D. McKenzie. Reserves.—Backs, M. Dixon, N. Chander; forwards, L. Blanchard, C. L. Hardie. Owing to the inability of Mr L. K. Vlurray, of Timaru, to officiate, Mr R. I’erguson, of Invercargill, has been aplOinted to referee to-morrow’s match.’
