Brookhy Song To Have Spell

Special to the Daily Times,

CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 16. The conditions were pleasant for the work at Riccarton this morning, but there was nothing of interest in the proceedings. The horses that went to the track were given only easy tasks. Brookby Song, the winner of the Grand National Steeplechase, will leave to-night on his way to his home in Auckland where he will have a spell. Though Da Vinci was booked to go home to-night, it is understood there has been a change in the plans and that he may race again next Saturday. The following horses are booked to leave to-night for the North Island: — Corlneus, Town Echo, Harley, Ballinabuoy, Moutoa Lord, Tanga-ta-pai, Ostentatious, and Sunshine Bay, while among those booked to go home to-morrow night are Tremello, Lochrea, Roman Duke, Distinction, Battle Strife, Town Survey, Specialist, Broiefort Prince, Hymn of Hate, and Avvastep. Though Mr J. B. Douglas Clifford did not race any of his horses last week, A. Coutts expects to start two of the team on the final day, probably Disturbance, winner of a division of the Cashmere Plate, and also Terminate, a well-grown Finis—Wild Fox colt, who had two races last season.
