HOTEL-KEEPER'S REQUEST
IMPROVEMENTS TO COUNTRY ROAD ' The public-spirited action of the proprietor of a small country hotel earned him the support of the executive of the Automobile Association, Otago, last night, when his letter complaining of the state of Dansey’s Pass road, Maniptoto, was discussed. The hotel-keeper, Mr A. J. London, told the executive that he had obtained 300 signatures of travellers who had passed over the road since Christmas, as proof of the fact that the route carried considerable traffic. Mr London asked that the road be improved, that cattle-gates be erected, and that the association make representations to have a telephone installed in the vicinity of his hotel. He had helped several motorists in difficulty, and if a telephone was wanted, a walk of four miles was entailed. On the motion of Mr W. J. Mclnnes; it was decided to press for the improvements requested in the letter. , Mr G. W. Ferens presided at the meeting.
