GREATLY IMPROVED
CONDITIONS IN JAPAN © TROOPS WELL SATISFIED P.A. AUCKLAND, Aug. 10. Praise for the vastly-improved conditions for New Zealand troops in Japan and also the conditions on the troopship was expressed by the 566 members of J Force who disembarked at Auckland just before noon from the Duntroon. All the troops spoke highly of the leave centres'and food in Japan. While the majority seemed pleased to -be back, a number said they would not have objected to remaining away longer. Four members of the force brought wives. With the exception of one couple, all the romances originated in Japan. Captain. N. Dowsett. of Dunedin, senior medical officer of the ship, married Nurse M. Head, of Auckland; Captain J. Brown-Bennie, of Dunedin, married Corporal M. Kearney, of Invercargill; Second-lieutenant N. ; O. Mangin. of Dunedin, married Nurse A. R. Bemrose, of Invercargill- and Corporal A, G. Wynyard married Private E. Wells, of Invercargill.
