Rec. 11 p.m. NEW YORK, Aug. 9. Lloyd Mangrum to-day won 10,000 dollars —the world’s largest golf trophy —by defeating Sam Snead and Dutch Harrison in the three-way. play-off resulting from the tie yesterday. The competition was the 36-hole Tam o’ Shanter, “the world’s championship” tournament, in which the winner takes all the prize money. The three players yesterday tied with 135. Mangrum scored 70 to-day, Snead 71, and Harrison 73.
