STRONGER MEASURES

INDIA IN KASHMIR DISPUTE it NEHRU PLACES GUILT ON PAKISTAN N.Z.P.A.— Reuter—Copyright Rec. 8 p.m. NEW DELHI, Aug. 10. Pakistan’s “ admission ” before the United Nations Kashmir Commission that its troops were fighting in Kashmir meant that Pakistan's case before the United Nations had collapsed, the Prime Minister of India, Mr Nehru, told a public meeting. “This admission gives rise.to grave issues,” he said. It is bound to have far-reaching effects on relations between the two dominions. Mr Nehru added that if forced by Pakistan, India was “quite determined to act strongly.” He said Pakistan’s admission after seven or eight months’ fighting proved that her activities in Kashmir were based on deceit and fraud.

Mr Nehru, referring to Hyderabad, said the State had no choice but to accede to India. Such accession would mean equal partnership. “We do not require to take military action to bring about accession of Hyderabad. We, however, have made full military preparations because we cannot be in active spectators of what is happening on the borders of the State and inside it.”

Mr Nehru added that the unrest inside Hyderabad had changed the entire complexion of the problem and had forced the Indian Government to take drastic measures. .
