MOUNTPARK INQUIRY
CONCLUSION EXPECTED TO-DAY FINAL ADDRESSES BEGUN P.A. AUCKLAND, Aug. 9. The first of the final addresses to the Mountpark Tribunal was given today when Mr T. P. Cleary, counsel for the Waterfront Industry Commission, dealt for two and a-half hours on the five points contained in the tribunal’s order of reference. Mr C. A. Hamer, for the Waterside Employers’ Association, had introduced his address when the hearing was adjourned. The president of the Waterside Workers’ Union, Mr H. Barnes, will deliver his final address after Mr Hamer has concluded. The inquiry, which will enter its twelfth day when it resumes tomorrow, is expected to conclude in the afternoon.
Hopes are held in some quarters that the members will remain together in Auckland until they have given their decision, possibly this week. ■
