MALAYAN ATTEMPT FAILS SINGAPORE. Aug. 8. The first attempt to establish a Communist republic in Kelantan State, north-east Malaya, had ended in complete failure, said Major-general C. H. Boucher, G.O.C. Malaya. The British authorities in Malaya are considering bringing Dyaks from British Borneo to Malaya to combat terrorism. The Dyaks were the traditional headhunters of Borneo, who revived the custom ak guerrilla warriors against the Japanese with Allied assistance before the Australian invasion of Borneo.
