N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent
Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 9. A week’s food supply can be carried in tablet form in a coat pocKet, it is claimed by Dr H. E. Heitz, research scientist, as the result of an experiment ih which 100 students volunteered to “ starve ” for five days. The students were given six tablets a day of etagone, each having a different flavour—orange, lemon, pineapple, pepermint, caramel, and chop suey. They were also allowed one pint of water a day.' All finished the test in perfect con dition, including 14 men who starved completely for three days. The students carried on with normal work-, but their chief complaint was that they could not sleep, even when they were dead tired. Later this month 100 girl students are to carry out a similar test.
