COATES MEMORIAL

REASONS FOR DELAY IN ERECTION P.A. WELLINGTON, Aug. 4. Mr S. W. Smith (Oppn., Hobson) gave notice in the House of Representatives to-day to ask the Prime Minister the reasons for the continued delay in the erection of the memorial church to the late Mr J. G. Coates at Kaikohe. and what the Government proposed to do to expedite the building of that memorial. Mr Fraser, replying immediately by leave of the House, said it had been hoped to have the work done before now, but unfortunately neither the Works Department nor the Department of Internal Affairs had been able to find a contractor to undertake the work. If a contractor could be found the work would proceed.
