BANANAS FOR DUNEDIN

EXPECTED THIS .WEEK ORANGES ON THE WAY A shipment of oranges is expected to arrive here by the Waitaki at the end of the week. Bananas are also expected to arrive this week by rail and ferry from Auckland. The first of the new season’s tomatoes came to hand from a Christchurch hothouse this week. They brought from 6s 9d to 7s 6d lb. Tree tomatoes are in heavy supply, but Chinese gooseberries and passion fruit are short. The market is well supplied with vegetables. Cabbages, however, are still bringing ceiling prices. Cauliflowers, on the other hand, are in good supply, and prices were lower yesterday than they were last week.
