Presentation To Mr J. A. Roy, M.P., At Party Meeting

During the annual meeting of the Clutha Electorate Committee of the New Zealand National Party, held on Monday night at Clinton and presided over by Mr R. W. McCredie, a presentation was made to Mr J. A. Roy, M.P for the district, of a fitted travelling

bag for use during his trip overseas as a member of the Empire parliamentary delegation. There were over 80 delegates present. A welcome was also extended to Mr D. Murdoch, chairman of the OtagoSouthland division of the party, and Mr A. C. Laing, divisional secretary. Mr Roy addressed the meeting on the work of Parliament during the past 12 months, and paid particular attention to farmers’ pool accounts, a matter greatly interesting the minds of the «farming community at the present time. The work of organisation within the electorate was reviewed by Mr S. A. McSkimming. Membership and finance were sound, he said. Mr McCredie was re-elected chairman, with Mr W. D. Shelton (Gore) as deputy chairman. Mr L. J. Edwards was appointed secretary, and Mr A. W, Cooper (Gore) as assistant. A representative committee selected from delegates from the various areas was set up to function during the year.
