Rush for Test Souvenirs

At the close of the first test S. G. Barnes, thinking the match won, made off with one of the stumps as a souvenir. Actually one more run was required, and when Hassett hit the necessary single Barnes missed his souvenir. This photograph shows the scene at the end of the second test with the players making a dash

for the stumps as souvenirs. At the near wicket are Toshack making off with a stump under his arm, Barnes by the umpire about to make off with the other two stumps, while Wright (England) and W. A. Johnston dash up in an effort to share the souvenirs. At the far end are left to right: T. G. Evans, Hassett, Miller, Brown, Morris ana Talion.
