COUNTRY FOOTBALL

CUP WON BY OTEKAIKE By defeating Georgetown by 3 points to nil on Saturday, a try by G. Russell, Otekaike, after being runners-up several times, won the Waitaki Sub-union’s competition for the first time. Saturday s game was hard and fast, and play was mainly confined to the forwards. This season Otekaike has fielded a fine pack of active forwards who have been the mainstay of the team, but much of the credit for the team's success must be given to the coach, Mr A. Grant, who devoted a great deal of time to this side of Rugby, and continued to /frlay an important part in the activities for the betterment of football in the Waitaki distric.
