CROMWELL JOCKEY CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS
The eighty-sixth annual meeting of -the Cromwell Jockey Club was held at Cromwell on Saturday. The president Mr R. J. Lawrie, occupied the chair, and there was an attendance of 40 members. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, the president stated that the improvemens carried out during the year to the grounds had had a most beneficial effect on the track, which was in perfect condition for the meeting. The totalisator turnover on the second day was a record for one day for the course. The racing had been of a high order. The meeting had, however, beeh run at The meeting decided to institute eight races each dav instead of the seven races that had been run hitherto, and it was also decided, at the request of owners, to substitute an eight furlong and a-half race for the present mile race. The handling of the totalisator was left to the Cromwell Totalisator Syndicate, which was congratulated on the manner in which the totalisator had been conducted at the recent meeting. Four new members were elected and the election of officers resulted: President, Mr R. J Lawrie; vice-presidents—Messrs W. E Jellev, J. Colling and G. Wishart; auditor, Mr E. Edmiston; secretary, Mr Fred. G. ’ Dunn: judge. Mr J. A. O’Brien; starter, Mr R. A. Paterson. The usual subcommittees were set up.
