PROSECUTION THREATENED

REFUSAL TO RESUME HOME DELIVERIES Rec. 8 p.m. SYDNEY, May 27. The State Government is prepared to prosecute shopkeepers who refuse to make home deliveries, and put out of business those who persist in refusal after prosecution, according to the Minister of Labour, Mr F. J. Finnan. He explained that his department could put’shopkeepers out of business by cancelling their licences to trade. About half of the retail butchers who had so far returned the departmental questionnaire had said they did nbt intend to deliver. Their statements had included such unhelpful remarks as “ I have not delivered in 20 yeai-s. and I am not going to start now.” The Home Deliveries Act, passed on April 16, provides a maximum penalty of £SO for any breach.
