DOMINION GRADUATES
(REASONS FOR REMAINING IN BRITAIN QUESTIONNAIRE PREPARED N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent Rec. 10 p.m. LONDON. May 26 Dr H. R. Hume, scientific adviser to the Air Ministry, who was recently appointed rector of Canterbury University College. Christchurch, will leave‘for New Zealand at the end of July to take up his new appointment. Before he leaves Britain, Dr Hume will attend the Commonwealth Universities’ Conference, which will be held at Oxford earlier in July. Dr Hume has been interesting himself in the work of New Zealand university students and graduates m Britain, and in conjunction with Dr Ernest Marsden, New Zealand scientific liaison officer in London, has prepared a questionnaire which will be circuLated among all New Zealarid university men in Britain with the object of Ascertaining their views upon returning |o New Zealand to continue the various lines of research and study they have |aken up. , , | For some time past the drift of men Ivith academic attainments from New ■Zealand has been causing concern, and it is hoped the questionnaire may throw some light on the reasons which influence many of them to make their Icareers overseas in preference to reIturning to the Dominion.
