DUNEDIN SESSION
POSERS, PENALTIES AND PROFITS
For distinguishing between stalactites and stalagmites a Dunedin man last night won the big prize in a session of “ Posers, Penalties and Profits a dining-room suite worth £IOO. This programme, arranged by the Commercial Broadcasting Service for the main centres, was warmly received at the crowded Empire Theatre, and was heard by audiences at the St James and Strand Theatres. The questioned candidates did well on the profit side of the programme. The sponsoring firms varied in wares, one man winning a complete electric water-heater service of the larger type, a Mosgiel visitor taking a band saw, and a woman was a pair of nylon stockings to the good. Other prize? won included an electric vacuum cleaner, an assortment of smaller electric appliances, a travelling bag and even a watch. One candidate whe failed was directed by the compere Mr Selwyn Toogood, to perform the pleasant penalty of delivering to the house of a small invalid girl a lOlt box of chocolates.
