SHAKESPEARE READING

The Dunedin Shakespeare Club will present its first reading for the year in the Concert Chamber to-morrow night. The play chosen is the drama “ Macbeth,” written by Shakespeare when he was at the summit of his powers. With marvellous economy of language, Shakespeare built up his scenes, from the dreadful climax of the murder, and the subsequent chaos, to the final retribution. Some of the greatest poetry in his plays is to be found in “ Macbeth.” The cast of readers is a very competent one. and includes Messrs J. W. Hayward, W. G. Clayton, H. Cohen, H. Chapman, D. E. Dali. M. Joel, L. Francis and R. G. Osborn, Mesdames G. S. Thomson, L. Griffiths and E. J. Murray, and Misses H. Smith. E. Abbott and M. Randle.
