AUCKLAND’S “SPECIAL CHALLENGE NO DATE AVAILABLE The Management Committee of the Otago Rugby Football Union had before it at last night's meeting a letter from the secretary of the Auckland Union, Mr R. Inglis. stating that from the report of his union's delegates to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Union it appeared unlikely that the Otago Union would be able to fix a date for Auckland’s special Ranfurly* Shield challenge. The writer added that he had been asked to make a further appeal to the Otago Union to make every endeavour to accommodate Auckland in regard to this matter. It was decided to advise the Auckland Union that in the meantime Otago was unable to arrange a date for the match. The Canterbury Union confirmed Wednesday, August 18, as the date for its match against Otago at Dunedin, and lodged a challenge for the Ranfurly Shield.—Noted. Saturday, August 81. was confirmed by the Wanganui Union as the date for its Ranfurly Shield challenge match - at Dunedin. —Noted.
