NO CHANGE

POWER ALLOCATION CONSUMPTION SATISFACTORY Special Correspondent WELLINGTON, May 24. No change in the allocation of electric power in the South Island will be made this week. Consumption for last week was below the allocation, and the position at present is regarded by the electricity controller, Mr A. E. Davenport, as satisfactory. Mr Davenport told the Daily Times representative to-night that ’ for the week ended on Sunday the allocation of power for the South Island was 13,201,000 units, and consumption was 12,964,000 units, being 237,000 units, oil.S per cent, below the allocation. Storage used during the week was 2,140,000 units, and storage available at the end of the week 79,400.000 units. Mr Davenport said that since consumption was less than was allowed for when the week’s allocation was drawn up, the position was satisfactory and did not call for any change in the allocation for this week.

Asked about the consumption figures for the Otago and Southland areas, Mr Davenport said the department did not publish figures for individual power districts.
