MACANDREW BAY ORPHANS’ CLUB

The " sporting night" of the Macandrew Bay Orphans’ Club was held on I Saturday night, when members of the Portobello Bowling Club, McGavin’s [cricket team and the M.C.P. cricket team Ipere entertained. After the usual opening and the initiation of four new members, President W. Maule and Vice-presi-

dent E. N. Sudden were associated in the presentation of suitable trophies to the teams concerned. Suitable replies and references to activities in the field of sport were made by Messrs E. W S. Botting, St C. Ferguson, R. Brown, H. Glover, R. Little, S. Haynes and W. Fleury. During the evening items were given by the sextet, Messrs R. Don and R. Pettitt (instrumental), R. Jeffrey, E. Paris, W. Tregonning and R. H. Anderson (vocal), G. Nash (elocution) and R Tulloch and A. McEwan (sketches). Mr R, Don played the accompaniments.
