FALSE PRETENCES

TWENTY-TWO CHARGES ADMITTED PA AUCKLAND. May 24. Pleading guilty to 22 charges of false pretences in Wellington and Auckland, John George Moir, aged 52, a carpenter, was remanded in the Police Court until Thursday for sentence. Senior Detective Aplin said that Moir called on unsuspecting women and some men whose names he got from bereavement and other notices in the newspapers and told hard luck stories. He had obtained £25 4s in Wellington and £36 4s in Auckland.
