WANAKA
THE WEATHER A thaw set in early in the week and mild worm weather has been enjoyed in Wanaka. Rain fell on Thursday, and there was further snow on the high country. The Cardrona is well coated and the Crown Range road to Queenstown is difficult to negotiate. personal Mr and Mrs Reginald Dawson, Dunedin, have arrived in Wanaka for a fortnight's visit. Mrs Maurice James has been visiting Wanaka and will return to Dunedin today. Mr and Mrs P. Bonisch, who have been in V/anaka for six weeks, will return to Dunedin to-day. Mr R. W. S. Botting has returned to Dunedin. TOWN PLANNING The Technical Committee of the Wanaka extra-urban town planning scheme, comprising Mr H. Adams (chief surveyor, Dunedin), Mr 11. Vezey (Lake County engineer), Mr Hopwood (county clerk), and Mr T. A. Bridgeman (representing Wanaka), will meet the Sur-veyor-general in Dunedin this week to make final arrangements for the planned scheme which will be submitted to the Lake County Council and the Town Planning Board for approval. Good progress has been made during the past few months to complete the scheme which was held in abeyance during the war years. BRING AND BUY The Wanaka Golf Club held a bring and buy on Friday, the result being most successful. THE DOMINIE PLAYERS The Training College students who are touring Centra] presented the play “ Tobias and the Angel ” in Wanaka this week. A large and responsive audience showed its appreciation of the players.
