ZINGARI WINS AGAIN

FINE DISPLAY BY ORR

An outstanding display by R. Orr, the Zingari-Richmond full-back, a brilliant try by A. Saul, and solid work by the Zingari pack were among the few attractive features of the main match at Carisbrook where Zingari-Richmond defeated Taieri by 14 points to nil alter a dour game. Orr played one of his best games, frequently repelling the loose forays which were a feature of Taieri’s game with long and accurate kicks to touch and moving up fast in an effort to add sting to the attack. The Zingari backs saw plenty ot the ball, but although T. Moore opened

the scrum prevented many of the moveup the play the lack of thrust close to ments from culminating. The wings, Saul and A. Phillips, both infused dash into their play, and F. Peat (centre) did his best to straighten the attack. N. Wilson, the Zingari hooker, was easily the best of the forwards, but A. E. Hellyer, R. Cody, and W. Brown were a hard-working trio.

The Taieri forwards lacked cohesion, but individually G. Johnstone. J. Treloar, and D. Wallace showed up well. S. Whitson nlayod a most serviceable game at half-back, and L. Couper, who replaced K. Frew in the first half, did a lot of saving work. Generally, however, there was a lack of method about the play of the Taieri team which prevented it from finishing off any likely scoring movements. Tries for Zingari were scored by Saul and Hellyer, one of which was converted by Orr who also kicked a goal from a penalty while E. Watson dropped a goal from a mark. Mr J. Garthwalte was the referee.
