MANUFACTURE OF HOME-MADE FIREWORKS ' girl fatally injured Rec. 9 p.m. SYDNEY, May 23. When home-made fireworks exploded while ingredients were being mixed in mortar, a girl aged * 7 , r f; ceived injuries from which -she bled to death in an hour. She and her brother aged 21 were mixine chemicals on-in-structions from a magazine to maxe fireworks for Empire Day celebrations on Monday. The mixture exploded and a large piece of mortar severed an artery in the girl’s thigh. Her brother carried her into the house, but all attempts to stem the blood flow were unsuccessful.
