CHURCHILL’S TRIBUTE

JOINT SERVICES’ MEMORIAL UNVEILED LONDON, May 21. Mr Churchill unveiled a memorial in the west cloister of Westminster Abbey to the officers and men who lost their lives in the submarine branch of the Royal Navy (1914-18 and 193945), and the commandos, airborne and special air services (1939-45). Mr Churchill said: “Nothing of which I have any knowledge or record has ever been done by mortal man which surpasses the splendour and daring of their feats of arms.”
