FIRST DEFEAT IN AUSTRALIA NEW SOUTH WALES FINISHES STRONGLY Rec. 8 p.m. SYDNEY, May 23. After leading New South Wales until late in the second spell in the Rugby League match at the Sydney Cricket Ground yesterday, the New Zealand team was beaten by 23 points to 17. The crowd, estimated at 45,000, rose to its feet time and again as play swept from end to end of the field in an extremely fast and spectacular game under perfect weather conditions.
