Unity Chambers, 137 Lower Stuart street SUNDAY, 6.30 P.M. i Subject: “IS SABBATH-KEEPING TAUGHT BY CHRIST AND HIS APOSTLES?” All Welcome. No Collection. TStble "TN DEATH THERE IS NO REMEMA BRANCE OF THEE.” (Psl. 6:5). It is a popular idea, though UTTERLY AT VARIANCE WITH SCRIPTURE REVELATION, that our “ dear departed friends” are perfectly aware of what is transpiring in the area of their former abode. The Word of God, however, says, “THE DEAD KNOW NOT ANYTHING” (Eccl. 9:5). “His breath goetn forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day HIS THOUGHTS PERISH” (Psl. 146: 4). - It was the lying serpent that said "Thou shalt NOT surely die” (Gen. 3:4), and not God (see Gen. 2:17, 3:19:22). Dare we question the truthfulness of God’s statement to Adam, “ THOU SHALT SURELY DIE,” and consequently fall foul of John 5:10, “HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT GOD, HATH MADE HIM A LIAR.” It is the consistent teaching of the Holy Scriptures that man is but “ dust and ashes’.’ (Gen. 2:7, Gen. 3:19. Gen. 18:27, Isa 40:6, 1 Pet. 124), animated whilst in being by the breath of life (Gen. 2:27, Gen. 7:22, Psa. 146:4. Isa. 2:22, Dan. 5.23, Acts 17:25), and that when man “expires” (i.e., “ giveth up the’ghost”) “ he dieth and wasteth away,” and is as non-existent as he was before birth (Ecc. 9.5, Psa. 65. Psa. 39:13, Psa. 115:17. Psa.' 146:4, Isa. 38:18). When the Scriptures are studied and understood it is seen that there is no support in them for the doctrine of the immortality of the soul, heaven-going at death and hell-fire torments. These doctrines are simply "fables" of human origin (2 Tim. 4:3-4). Though the Bibie teaches that death is really death, that " the dead know not anything,” it does not follow that death is the end of all for everyone. Death is certainly the end of all for those who live and die without any understanding of the will and purpose of God as revealed in the Holv Scriptures (Psa. 49:20, Psa 88:5, Prov. 21:16, Matt. 7:13, Luke 13:3, Roms. 2:12), but it is hist as certain that those who believe God’s truth and obey' God’s commands will at. the second coming of Jesus Chrisl be RESURRECTED FROM AMONG THE DEAD to receive everlasting lit" and an inheritance In the Kingdom of God Christ will establish unon ear Mi at His eomin<* (1 Cor. 1:21, Mark 16:16. Rev. 22:14. Isa. 26:19. 1 Thess 4-16. Rev 20-6. 1 Cor. 15:51-54. Phil. 3:21. Matt. 25:34. R"v. 11:15, Acts 17:31. Rev 5: 9-m. Rev. 3:26-27). Reader, th n '•-surrection of the dead is the ” one hone ” of the Bible, the hope of the true Chins'ian: it was t'-e hone of Job fJob 19:25-27), David 'Psa 71:20) Isaiah 'Tsa 25:10).
