A new system of payment of doctors under the free social security medical scheme is likely to be the outcome of the investigation by the Medical Services Committee. The committee has studied the provision of medical practitioner services, with special reference to the system of payment of doc•tors and the amount of incomes they may earn. The committee’s report will be presented to the Minister of Health, who, it is expected, will publiS“lThe question of medical benefits in particular is involved,” said a leading member of the British Medical Association to-night. “The profession is very keen that changes should be brought about to bring the system more in accord with its own ideas and enable the practice of medicine to be carried on in a more satisfactory way. It should be remembered that the existing scheme is the Governments scheme,, not ours.” He said the provision of medicines as well as doctors’ services was within the scope of the inquiry.
