POWER SAVING

<9 : RELOW DAY’S QUOTA “ Once again Dunedin rose to the occasion on Wednesday in the saving of electricity,” commented Cr L. M. Wright, chairman of the Electricity Committee of the City Council, to the Daily Times yesterday. He explained that power consumers in Dunedin on that day had used 5.27 per cent, less electricity than their allocation, the excess over the first three days of the week having been reduced to 0.39 per cent. While this week’s position so far is considered to be satisfactory, it was emphasised that it is only on occasions that consumers have kept within their quota. “ What is most imperative,” Cr Wright said, “is that there should be a sustained effort on the part of consumers, not just a sporadic effort once or twice a week.” It is also pointed out that on the u-eek-ends, when the daily allocations are at their lowest, consumption remains at about the same level as on other days.
