MAINLY FAIR The Meteorological Office in Wellington has issued the following official weather forecast for to-day:— Situation.—A deep depression is centred west ,of the South Island. Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day.—Mode-rate variable winds, easterlies predominating. Scattered areas of coastal fog or drizzle at first, other- ' wise weather mainly fair. Temperatures cool to moderate, weather in Dunedin.—Conditions were again mild in Dunedin yesterday, with temperatures ranging from 45 degrees to 56 degrees. The early morning. was dull, but the sunshine for the, day amounted to 5 hours- 48 minutes, and there was a light wind from the south. The rain registered was 0.04 inch. The barometer reading at midnight was 29.55 inches (1000 millibars).
