MORE CARS REQUIRED

P.A. WELLINGTON, May 20. The council of the North Island Motor Union to-day decided to ask the Minister of Customs, Mr Nash, to ease the restrictions on the importation ol British cars during 1948 and 1949. Moving the motion, Mr W. H. Brown, Palmerston North, said it was known that some 20,000 British cars were available. Their importation into New Zealand would not only relieve the present shortage but would enable cars which were becoming obsolete and unsafe to be replaced.
