Civil Claims.—Judgment by default was given by Mr J. D. Willis, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning in the following civil claims:—S. E. Presland v.’J. M. United Nations Appeal.—Up to noon yesterday the amount handed in to the town clerk, Mr J. Branthwaite, for the United Nations appeal totalled £1341 19s lid. Papakalo Ploughing Match.—At a wellattended meeting of members at the Papakaio Ploughing Match on Tuesday night it was decided to carry on with holding the match, and delegates were appointed to the association to arrange for a suitable date.
