CHRISTCHURCH, May 18. C C Davis has sold his thrce-year-old chestnut gelding Mentor, by The Greek from Welcome Vaals, to the South Canterbury sportsmen, Messrs W. H. and C. L. Orbeli. and be will be sent to F. Trilford’s Washdyke stable to be educated, probably for steeplechasing. The Messrs Orbeli were represented earlier by a good-class hurdler in Carinthia, winner of the Grand National Hurdles of 1930. Because of the heavy wind and the fact that the horses have had plenty of racing, there was little of interest in track proceedings at Riccarton this morning
