PEDIGREE SALE

ABERDEEN ANGUS CATTLE Before a representative attendance at Waipukurau, Dalgety and Co. conducted a successful sale of pedigree Aberdeen Angus cattle on account of Mrs M. May, of “ Matapihi,” Waipawa, who was effecting a considerable reduction of her herd. The cattle came forward in excellent order and condition, reflecting great credit on Mrs May’s ability as a studmaster. Buyers were present from Victoria and from all parts of New Zealand, from north of Whangarei to Gore and Invercargill. Bidding was steady throughout and at times animated when the choicer lots entered the ring. There was a complete clearance at auction, and everything, with the exception of three of the bulls, was sold under the hammer. Averages in the various age groups were:— Thirty-two cows, averaging 78gns; 21 heifer calves, 26gns; 16 bull calves, 38ilgns; 13 rising three-year heifers, 75Jgns; 18 rising two-year heifers, 58gns; and 10 bulls .averaging 80Igns. The total sale average for the 110 cattle sold was 60gns.
