WRESTLING BROADCASTS

Sir,—After listening to a description of the wrestling contest between Blomfield and Levy from 4YA on Monday evening, we are left wondering what qualifications the National Broadcasting Service requires of its wrestling commentators. Surely the first would be to have a slight knowledge of the rules. We would be interested to know how at the beginning of the last round, with Blomfield one fall up, by what means could either contestant gain the decision on points as implied by the announcer. We humbly suggest that until such time as this commentator is conversant with the rules he should not be permitted to give a distorted version to the less fortunate followers of the sport who are unable to attend.—We are, etc., Invercargill. Two Disgusted Fans. [The announcer states that he said it was still possible for the result to be a draw if Levy secured a fall in the last round, which was just what happened. If each man has secured a fall by the end of the seventh round, the decision is based on points for the last round.— Ed.. O.D.T.]
