PROTEST FROM ORANGEMEN

P.A. WELLINGTON, May 18. The Legislation Committee of the Grand Orange Lodge of New Zealand has sent a letter to the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, protesting at the announcement that Mr Eamon De Valera is to be the guest of the Government during his forthcoming visit to the Dominion. The committee’s letter points to Mr De Valera’s attitude toward Britain during the war. “We express the earnest hope that it is not yet too late for you to withdraw from what we believe to be an indefensible position and one which must create the strongest resentment,” the letter says.
